From PowerNI (formerly NIE)

Terms and Conditions
1.
This grant only applies to new applications in Northern Ireland from 16 January 2012 – grant funding will not be paid retrospectively.
2.
Systems must be installed, commissioned and grants claimed by 29 February 2012 otherwise there is a risk of the grant not being paid.
3.
Applications from new builds will NOT be accepted due to time constraints so please do not attempt to submit an application if you are underway with a house build which will cause problems with the full commissioning of the solar water heating system (ie, no electricity or water supply to the property).
4.
Funding has been secured for an additional 50 household solar water heating grants. We anticipate that we will receive more than 50 applications therefore we will carry out a draw on draw on 26 January 2012 to select the successful 50 applications.
5.
An MCS quotation from an accredited installation company must be submitted with your signed application form otherwise your grant application will not be accepted.
6.
Funding from Power NI is limited and grants are dependent on availability and will be administered through a draw process.
7.
The support available for households is:

Solar water heating - £600 per system.
8. You must be in receipt of a grant offer letter from Power NI before proceeding with any installation work. Power NI will not provide a grant for households who have proceeded with the work without having applied to Power NI and having received a Power NI grant offer letter. There will be no exceptions to this requirement.
9. Applicants must use accredited installers and products – for more information log on to http://www.microgenerationcertification.org/.
10.
Applicants benefiting from a Power NI grant may be requested to participate in promotional activity e.g. a photograph. Participation may not unreasonably be refused.
11.
You agree to allow access to your installation for Power NI (or their representatives) for quality control or monitoring purposes.
12.
Applicants receiving funding for the renewable energy installation from any other Power NI programme or other funding source will not be funded through this programme.
13.
Following the installation of your renewable energy technology you need to complete the grant claim form and submit it to Power NI as soon as possible along with a copy of your invoice (stamped paid) and your commissioning certificate.

Funding has been secured for an additional 50 household solar water heating grants. We anticipate that we will receive more than 50 applications therefore we will carry out a draw on 26 January 2012 to select the 50 applicants.

Grant applications which were received after the closure of the previous rounds
of funding on 4 August and 26 September will not be counted. Only applications submitted from 16 January 2012 will be considered.

Grants will not be transferrable between applicants.

We will NOT accept hand delivered or emailed grant applications – any hand delivered or emailed applications will not be processed.

Any posted grant applications which arrive after last post on 25 January 2012 will not be considered.

Applications from houses which are being built will NOT be accepted.

Systems must be installed, commissioned and grants claimed by 29 February 2012 otherwise there is a risk of the grant not being paid.

Applicants who aren’t successful will receive a letter informing them of Power NI’s decision.

Power NI reserve the right to refuse applications.

Please note that with anticipated demand during this time, we will not be able to deal with telephone or email enquiries. Installer queries will not be accepted.

Grant applications which are received without an MCS quotation will not be considered.

Grant applications will not be processed until after the closing date of 25 January 2012. Successful applicants will be notified on or before 31 January 2012.

We are conscious that some applicants will be disappointed that they won’t be receiving a grant from Power NI but we hope that they understand that funding is limited and that local Government are consulting on a long term support mechanism for renewable heating technologies, the Renewable Heat Incentive.

This grant only applies to new applications in Northern Ireland from 16 January 2012 – grant funding will not be paid retrospectively.

Please note that these new arrangements apply to new customer applications only -householders who already have a grant offer letter from an existing NIE SMART programme or previous Power NI programme are not eligible to apply.

The grant must be used to support the capital and installation costs of a solar water heating system. As a general rule this includes only the equipment itself and related works specific to the functionality of that equipment.

Scheme must be on a property located within Northern Ireland.

The funding support only applies to households in Northern Ireland.

The application form must be completed in full and signed by the applicant. The grant eligibility tick boxes on the application form must be filled in by the applicant, not the installer.

You must be in receipt of a grant offer letter from Power NI before proceeding with any work. Power NI will not provide a grant for households who have proceeded with the work without having applied to Power NI and having received a Power NI grant offer letter. There will be no exceptions to this requirement.

System must be designed, installed and commissioned by a registered installer (http://www.microgenerationcertification.org/)

Schemes must use accredited products (http://www.microgenerationcertification.org/)

It is good practice to request more than one quote before deciding on an installer and product, but for the purposes of the grant, you only need to submit one quote.

Grants are only available for the installation of new components - re-used or refurbished components are not permissible.

All statutory approvals must be in place before making an application e.g. Building Control, Planning Permission

Only one application will be permitted per household and the 50 grants will be administered through a draw process.

Systems must be installed, commissioned and grants claimed by 29 February 2012 otherwise there is a risk of the grant not being paid.

Applicant must allow access to the installation for inspection purposes by the scheme manager (or other appointed by the scheme manager) – all systems will be inspected. Due to the timing of the release of this additional funding, inspections will need to be arranged ASAP so householders must be willing to cooperate with the team of inspectors.

Applicants benefiting from a Power NI grant may be requested to participate in promotional activity e.g. a photograph. Participation may not unreasonably be refused.

Applicants receiving funding for the renewable installation from any other NIE programme or any other funding source will not be funded through the Power NI Household Solar Water Heating Grant.

Payment of the grant will only be made on receipt of a completed grant claim form, an invoice stamped paid and commissioning certificate to Power NI.

By signing the application form you agree to the grant terms and conditions.

It is your responsibility to inform Power NI of any changes to your installation (including any change to the specific type of system you have installed) because it may impact upon your entitlement to receive a grant.

Extensions will not be granted so please inform Power NI if there are any problems with an application so that funding is not committed unnecessarily.

Power NI reserves the right to refuse applications.
