Northern Ireland's first Zero Carbon House was officially opened by Environment Minister Alex Attwood & Irish Environment Minister Phil Hogan
All renewable energy equipment was provided and installed by Green Energy Technology Ltd, the company also supplied the whole house energy assessment used to achieve zero carbon standard.
The project was supported by councillors, MLA's, TD's and Ministers from Stormont and Leinster House.
This home was able to benefit from the Low Carbon Homes Scheme, and as it achieved Zero Carbon standard the owner will not have to pay council rates for 5 years, unfortunately this scheme has now closed.
Further information on the build and technology used can be found here.
The home also benefits from hugely decreased running costs due to the energy efficient design and the renewable technology used. It is estimated that the running costs are up to 70% lower than a regular home.
Patrick Flynn (Director), Damien Phillips (Business Development Manager) and John Martin (Director) from Green Energy Technology Limited |
All equipment installed by Green Energy Technology will also qualify for any Northern Ireland Renewable Heat Incentive.
